The Rushford Area Historical Society (RAHS) was formed in December 1984 with a primary goal of purchasing and restoring the original Southern Minnesota Depot in Rushford. The mission and goals expanded with the acquisition of the 1878 Grinde one-room schoolhouse, part of the original 1867 Rushford Emanual Episcopal Church, the 1913 limestone jail, and the 1914 two-story log cabin. We continue to build on the visitor’s experience in learning about the area’s history by adding displays and artifacts of historic value, publishing stories and photos that capture the essence of the Rushford area’s history. RAHS is a 501(c)(3) organization governed by a volunteer seven-member board of directors that meets monthly according to the organization’s bylaws.
